Moving On!

(Although, Elder Madsen claimed this email was sent on June 17th, I didn't receive it for several weeks; but, for continuity I post the emails by date order.)

Mom!

     I got my birthday card and the packages!! Amazing! The little kids here absolutely love the Jolly Ranchers and Air Heads. They have never had anything like them before.  We are going to get our transfers in about eight minutes, so I should be able to tell you where I am going by the end of the email.

Hardcore Elder Madsen

  

   Mom, this is my most hardcore picture ever. We were working hardcore in a member’s garden in the jungle!!  (Of course, he doesn’t explain why the jungle is on fire and why he still looks relatively clean while doing all that hardcore work. – Martha)

   

       This week...second to worst week on my entire mission by far. First, our bikes got stolen, so we couldn’t really do any work. Then on Friday, I got food poisoning from the senior couple’s lasagna?? Really...I can eat fish caught from the sewer and Biawak meat and not get sick at all, but I eat lasagna and get sick??? I threw up like ten times, no joke--it was the most miserable night of my life!  I lay on my bathroom floor throwing up till four in the morning. It was terrible. I would be really hot and then all of the sudden I would get chills and start shivering and then I’d get hot again...it was just—words can’t describe it.

     Mom, Dad is going to have a heart attack, but President Mains just called me. I am going to be a zone leader in Kuching, East Malaysia with my old companion from the MTC!!! That is wayyy cool! I can’t wait to be with Elder Crosland.  He is a cool guy and a super, super hard worker. And, I will now get to go to Singapore once a month!!  I’m kind of nervous about being a ZL though, but it will be a good learning experience for sure. So, I am leaving Sibu--that was short lived, but it was a fun area.

     I love you mom and miss you soo, sooo much. I will send you more pics too!!! LOVE YOU!
